| BREAST CANCER IN CANADA: |
 |
 |
 |
 |
• Breast cancer is the most commonly-diagnosed cancer and has
the second highest mortality rate for all cancers
• One in 9 women is expected to develop breast cancer during
her lifetime and one in 28 will die of it
• The breadth of this disease warrants ongoing action to raise awareness,
promote being breast aware and fund vital research to saves lives
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation -
Leaders in funding that is making a significant impact
As Canada’s leading breast cancer organization, the Foundation has been at the forefront of an incredible movement in Canada over the last 25 years – one that has taken a disease that was barely talked about and turned it in to one of the leading causes of our time.
With the generous support of Canadians, the Foundation’s strategic investments are making a significant impact to affect change and gain a better understanding of breast cancer. Our funding focuses on research areas such as primary prevention, treatment and improving the care and quality of life for those affected by the disease. Each year, through open calls for proposals, the Foundation invests in research projects, fellowships and community-based grants in support of our vision of creating a future without breast cancer. In the 2010 fiscal year, the Foundation funded over $14 million in research grants and $2.5 million in community grants to support this vision.
The Foundation is grateful for the support of corporate partners like MarcAngelo for contributing to their vision of a future without breast cancer.
